Today we finish Jesus’ message, we call the Sermon on the Mount. The Lord Jesus Christ ends with an image of two builders who erect homes on two different foundations with two very different results. One builder builds his house on a firm foundation and his house weathers the inevitable storms of life. The other builder builds his house on sand and it fails – falling flat in the storm. These builders are individuals and their homes are their lives. The firm foundation represents the person who repents and comes to Jesus Christ and lives out the words /teachings /will of God / the Bible in his life. His life is firm and survives the inevitable storms of this life and the judgment to come. The other individual follows his desires, longings and way – the teachings of this world and that persons life fails in the storms of life and in the great judgment to come – “great was the fall of it.” Which person do you wish to be?
