Ephesians 4:1-3 – Doctrine & Duty: "Becoming Like Christ!"
The Apostle's use of "Therefore" draws together both the Doctrinal section (Chapters 1-3) and the Practical section (Chapters 4-6) of his letter. This coupling is essential in our becoming like Jesus Christ… which is the plan of God (Ephesians 1:9-10) and the purpose for the Church (Ephesians 4:13). Sanctification… Christ likeness is the growth in knowledge and grace and without this growth in both we cannot achieve God's intentions for us… to become like Christ (Romans 8:29).
